Arkhetupon

Derivations, forms and foundations of archetypes

Arkhetupon is a transdisciplinary research project exploring the concept of the archetype. Its aim is to revisit the historical, technical and epistemological foundations of this concept.

The project begins with an observation that is as easy to verify as it is challenging to address: the term “archetype” does not carry the same meaning or implications across the disciplines and fields in which it is used. This calls for a reassessment of its derivations, forms and foundations, and may open up new perspectives. Two central questions guide this research: what underlying notions and founding principles shape the concept of the archetype? And how might collective research and debate, as envisioned in this project, lead to a new understanding of it?
