Presentation of the international artist’s Florence residency and video installation.

Florence. To mark international artist Jacopo Baboni Schilingi’s stay in Florence, this afternoon MAD–Murate Art District presents his twelve-month residency, continuing until September 2022, and the Argo installation, inaugurating the new Progetto Riva cycle.

At 5.30 p.m., in conversation with curator Renata Summo O’Connell and Murate Art District artistic director Valentina Gensini, Baboni Schilingi will introduce the project, culminating in a site-specific installation at MAD and the Terzo Giardino in September 2022.

Argo will be presented at the same time. The device continually measures some of the artist’s vital signs and is installed in a MAD space overlooking the Ketty La Rocca room, establishing a relationship between Jacopo Baboni Schilingi and the city.

A versatile artist and one of the most representative composers of his generation, whose research focuses on projects bridging the human body and the world of machines, Baboni Schilingi created Argo in June 2017. It will last throughout the artist’s lifetime.

The residency involves Artegiro Contemporary Art, the French Institute in Florence, the Academy of Fine Arts and the Luigi Cherubini Conservatoire.
