December 2015: Amadeus had recently unveiled its redesign and launched the photographic feature Grandangolo, telling stories of music and its surroundings through images. We chose to devote it to Body Scores, composer Jacopo Baboni Schilingi’s new project: scores written on naked bodies. Faces, arms, backs and legs become composition, in a highly personal, original vision of the ancient art of calligraphy combining artistic creation and photography.

In the years since, Body Scores has continued and expanded; these pages show new photographs of male models by Baboni Schilingi. After opening Paris’s Fotofever festival last November with an exhibition and live performance at the Carrousel du Louvre, the solo exhibition Bodyscore—The Soul Signature takes place at Chanel Nexus Hall in Tokyo from 14 January to 14 February 2020 [dates as printed in this article]. It also includes projections of the photographs on the Chanel Tower façade. As the composer’s patron, the French fashion house commissioned a string quartet entitled N.5.
