De la nature du sacre 2013
Jacopo Baboni Schilingi (third string quartet)
String quartet with live computer - commissioned by EMW - 2013 - Shanghai (China)
Quatuor Leonis string quartet
Live recording
"De la nature du sacre - II" is the third string quartet written by Baboni Schilingi inside a group that, in its final version, it will provide a total of five string quartets.
This versions of the string quartet is an extension and a “revision” of a previous one.
It is a composition for string instruments and live computer that falls in the genre of interactive music. Through sound processing algorithms, the composer re-interprets the sounds produced by live musicians creating a dialogue between sound synthesis, treatment of string instruments and sounds purely acoustic.
The main instrument is the cello that plays the role not only of concertante instrument, but driving in a path in order to find the "right mean" or, if you will, the right balance. Throughut this term Baboni Schilingi wants to articulate the notion of "ritual (the “sacre” in French), the search for an equilibrium not between opposite poles, but within distinct properties, often incompatible. Sometimes irreconcilable. Exposure of a given material, its renewal in time, his hypothesis of existence as a precursor emotional, and its integration mnemonics in memory of the listener... so this is an unstable equilibrium, not necessarily dynamic, that only the projection of a hypothesis wisdom brings its desire for existence.
